Step 1: Go to www.collegestudentinsurance.com. Click 'Get A Quote'.
Step 2: From the pull-down menu, select 'New York Univeristy (Film/Photo/Journalism)'
Step 3: Choose your personal property coverage. Please note that you are only required to purchase the minimum. As of this publication, the minimum coverage costs $90.00.
Step 4: On the following page, you are prompted to choose coverage for 3rd party rented or borrowed film equipment. Choose 'YES' and continue to the next page.
Step 5: Enter your account information and purchase the policy. Once your order has gone through you will receive a confirmation E-mail.
Here is one example of the cost breakdown for this insurance plan:
Personal Property ($6000 covg./$100 ded.) $90.00 + 3rd Party Camera Equipment ($25,000 covg./$100 ded.) $60.00 + processing fee $5.00 = $155.00

How does the College Student Insurance Program work for NYU film students?
CSI/Fireman’s Fund Insurance is a low-cost personal property insurance program that was designed specifically to meet the needs of college students. The plan that was created for film and photography students includes basic coverage for personal items (computers, iPods, electronics, cell phones, personal camera equipment) as well as additional coverage for third party camera equipment that you borrow or rent.How do I purchase CSI Insurance?

How long does the coverage last?
All CSI policies are annual policies that expire one year from the date of purchase.If I graduate during my policy period, will my insurance still be valid until the expiration date?
Yes. The policy is good for one full year from date of purchase.Do I need to file for a certificate of insurance for my NYU equipment?
No. You do not need to file an equipment insurance request for NYU equipment, but you will be asked to provide the Department with a printout of either your CSI policy or the order confirmation E-mail sent to you from CSI.Does my CSI camera equipment rental coverage extend to other third parties, such as rental houses and individuals?
Yes, as long as the replacement value of the rental does not exceed $25,000 in replacement value.Can I insure multiple rentals through this policy?
This policy can be used for multiple rentals but do keep in mind that the total rental value cannot exceed $25,000.How can I get a certificate of insurance for that rental?
All requests for insurance still flow through the NYU Department of Insurance & Risk Management. If you need to provide the rental house/owner with a copy of the insurance, you can still request this by filling out the Equipment Rental Request form online: nyu.edu/insurance. Don't forget to fill out the section of the form that asks for your CSI Student Property policy information. There is a standard five (5) business-day turnaround on all insurance certificates, and it will be sent to you via E-mail.Please Note: The NYU Equipment Rental Request form can only be used for filing requests for CSI certificates of insurance.
What is the procedure for filing an insurance claim for missing, stolen, damaged equipment?
