The Directors Series

The Directors Series takes place three nights a week: Monday evenings at 6pm in Theatre 006, located in the lower level of 721 Broadway; - Thursday and Friday evenings at 6pm at the Cantor Film Center's Theater 200, located at 36 East 8th Street (off University Place).  

Each night, a new feature is screened followed by a discussion hosted by industry liaison Jeremiah Newton and a guest filmmaker.  Alumni guests include: Martin Scorsese, Oliver Stone, Joel Coen, James Cox (Wonderland), master writer Richard LaGravenese, Pete Sollett (Raising Victor Vargas), John Hamburg (Along Came Polly), Greg Pak (Robot Stories), world-famous cinemtographer Darius Khondji, producer Martin Bregman (Scarface), Lindsay Crystal (My Uncle Burns), and Morgan Spurlock (Supersize Me), Kevin Jordan (Lobsterfarm), Nanette Burstein (Film School), Dylan Kidd (p.s.) as well as non-alumni George Lucas, Sir Ridley Scott, Keith Gordon (The Singing Detective), Luke Greenfield (The Girl Next Door), etc.

While many directors come and screen their latest feature films, other guests include producers, actors, cinematographers, and anyone else connected with the film. We show many indies as well as foreign films and feature-length documentaries.

Admission is free-of-charge. For more information, please contact Jeremiah Newton, Film & TV Industry Liaison; his office is room 1140 at 721 Broadway and his email is .  Postings are available on the 9th, 10th, and 11th floors of 721 Broadway.   A few events are ticketed ones (still free!) while other screenings are seated on a first-come, first-served basis

The Contact Series

The Contact Series takes place Thursdays from 12 noon to 1pm in the new 11th floor Undergraduate Film Conference Room. For one hour only, a guest from the Film/Television/Video industry will have an informal lunch with you will have the opportunity to learn more about what the guest does in the industry. You will have the opportunity to ask many questions! An email will be sent to you, and since space is limited to 35 students, you must RSVP in order to be assured a seat. And yes, a prerequisite for attending is that you bring your own lunch!

Guests include: David A. Isaacs, CEO/Zilo Networks, Bryan Singer, director of USUAL SUSPECTS, X-MEN 1 & 2, and the upcoming SUPERMAN RETURNS, and producer Mary Jane Skalski.
