Audiences view films in many different ways with methods of delivery constantly changing; DVD, handheld devices, streaming video, and various web transmission types to name a few. This craft production course enables the student to prepare their reel, film or portfolio for delivery via different means, presenting it in a well designed context. Students will have their own website for their reel along with a DVD containing optimal resolution of their work. Main areas of concentration are the design and technique of video delivery via web and DVD, as well as reformatting video for the smaller screen. Topics covered are project planning (target audience definition, the flow chart), compression and encoding video for online and DVD viewing, still/motion menu page creation/editing, graphical and navigational design, audio/video design, and overall website and DVD authoring issues. Students will work with Final Cut Pro, Dreamweaver, DVD Studio Pro, Toast, and Photoshop.
