H56.1206 Lecture 3 Credits
Prerequisites: Language of Film (H56.0004)
This course deals with the history of cinematographic art and science. A working Director of Photography will relate a perspective that is unique and factual to a theoretic discussion, which is traditionally academic. Cinematography has a strong tradition of innovation in storytelling with techniques and equipment that have been created to make a film special. Many times the first use of a technique was weak for various reasons, but an adaptive pioneer took the science to the next creative level.
