The Office of Special Projects is based out of the Associate Dean's Office for the Kanbar Institute of Film, Television & New Media. The following projects, initiatives and events are handled by the Office of Special Projects.
National Board of Review of Motion Pictures- For over 101 years the National Board of Review has dedicated its efforts to the support of film, domestic and foreign, as both art and entertainment. 2011 Summer Filmmakers & Recorded Music Collaboration- A collaboration event between the students of the Summer High School Filmmakers Workshop and the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music Summer High School Students. More
Summer Filmmakers Workshop- This workshop introduces students to the theory and techniques of developing and producing short story ideas that are shot on digital video and edited digitally on a computer with Final Cut Pro. More

Independent Filmmaker Project Partnership - The Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP) has partnered with the Kanbar Institute of Film, TV & New Media Undergraduate and Graduate divisions to bring independent filmmakers from the NYU community and the industry as it is tied to IFP together through strategic programming and allied events. More
New York Times Film Club Partnership- The NYTimes Film Club has partnered with the Kanbar Institute to provide quality screenings and discounted memberships to current students, alumni, faculty & staff. Tisch School of the Arts alumni are eligible for a 25% discount on new memberships to The New York Times Film Club (http://www.nytfilmclub.com). More
Chris Columbus/Richard Vague Film Production Fund- The Fund supports annual awards totaling $175,000 to alumni for the purpose of making a first feature film. More
Sloan Foundation Awards- The award encourages undergraduate and graduate students in the Film and Television or Dramatic Writing to portray intellectually engaging, entertaining images of scientists and their work. More
